Site Compliance & Design Principles

Child Safety Design

  • This site ensures verifiable parental consent via credit/debit card charge for monthly account.

  • No direct child account creation  or use without parent involvement via the parent PIN.

  • Minimal data collection/no unnecessary PII (see Privacy Policy below).

  • Parent decides if a child has just structured responses, or traditional AI chat as well.

  • Parent oversight of conversations.

  • School-grade appropriate responses.

  • Strict filtering of unsafe topics built into the AI prompt. While Chip believes a wide range of topics are  worthy of discussion, to keep this site safe and as noncontroversial as possible, the following topics are not able to be submitted in a child's question:

    • Illegal and dangerous acts

    • Suicide

    • Pornography

    • Politics

    • Religious Beliefs

COPPA Compliant

Children's Online Privacy Protection Act ("COPPA") imposes certain requirements on operators of websites or online services directed to children under 13 years of age.

  • Privacy Policy and Direct Parental Notification: This site has a posted privacy policy detailing our practices for collecting, using, and disclosing children's personal information. Parents are provided with direct notice about our information collection practices before collecting any personal information from their child. See the Privacy Policy below.

  • Verifiable Parental Consent: Parent are in control.  They provide verifiable consent by signing up for an account using a credit/debit card before any child information can be entered.

  • Parental Rights: Parents are able to review, edit, and request the deletion of their child's personal information and AI chats and have the right to refuse further collection or use of that information.

  • Data Security: The Wix website infrastructure protects the confidentiality, security, and integrity of the personal information collected from children.

  • Data Minimization and Retention: The site collects only the personal information that is reasonably necessary for the child to participate in the online activity:

    • Chat information is saved as long as a parent deems its needed, as they can delete the data at any time.

    • When a parent deletes a child’s account, it is erased along with all AI chat history.

 

Open AI Compliant

OpenAI policy prohibits unsafe content for minors and mandates moderation. This is built into the site's design.​​

Privacy Policy

To be compliant with COPPA, this site ensures the following:

  1. This site collects minimal personally identifiable information (PII) to ensure a safe experience. For example, child nicknames are encouraged, versus full first and last names. Only the parent provides their email address.

  2. The data collected is used solely AI tutoring purposes, helping us to provide personalized learning support.

  3. Parents have the right to review their children's prompts, the information collected, request its deletion, or revoke consent at any time.
